At the invitation of the Korean battalion operating in southern Lebanon, within the international force “UNIFIL”, including military, educational, municipal and sports figures, within the framework of the exchange of knowledge and experiences in areas of mutual interest, which contributes to the consolidation of relations and friendship between the Korean battalion and Lebanese society.

The delegation was headed by the General Secretary of the Supreme Council for Defense, the major General Mahmoud Al-Asmar. Moreover, the delegation held several meetings, most notably with the Director of Civil Military Cooperation in the Joint Staff of the Korean Ministry of Defense, Major General Jongshul J, who in turn praised the Lebanese delegation, conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Defense and thanked Lebanon for “making a donation of 50  One thousand dollars immediately after the 1950 Korean War.

Also, General Mahmoud considered that “what South Korea is doing towards Lebanon, is an initiative on what Lebanon previously did with South Korea after the war.

The delegation also met Commander of the Submarine Forces, Major General Jeong Il Shik, and he laid a wreath at the memorial Seoul National Cemetery.

Furthermore, he visited the Museum of War and Peacekeeping, and the United Nations Cemetery in Busan.

The delegation thanked South Korea, its government and its people, for standing alongside the Lebanese people.”  Finally, he gave symbolic gifts to the Korean officials.
