On February 17, 2025, the Assembly of Civil Associations in the city of Tyre held a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the Tyre Municipality building. The meeting was attended by the mayor, Engineer Hassan Dabouk, where the challenges facing cultural associations, especially after the war, were discussed, as well as ways to support them in reviving their cultural activities through securing the necessary funding to ensure their continuity.
The UNESCO delegation explained that the purpose of the meeting was to listen to the difficulties of cultural associations and assess the situation in various regions, with the aim of securing the appropriate funding for the implementation of diverse and meaningful cultural projects and activities.
Mayor Dabouk emphasized the active role of the Tyre Municipality during the war, pointing out the damages the city suffered and the successive crises that negatively impacted the associations, stressing the importance of their role in implementing projects that have a positive impact across various fields.
For its part, the Assembly of Civil Associations mentioned that the activities of cultural associations have diminished in recent years due to various crises, which has affected their effectiveness. They emphasized the importance of supporting culture and providing the necessary assistance to the associations that have always carried out continuous and effective projects.
