Mr. Rispoli, the cultural counselor, provided a brief overview about the Francophone and its importance in Lebanon, saying that: all this period of time, we were able to encourage and support the Francophone, and regarding the French language, it’s a part of the Lebanese culture, and both languages the Lebanese and the French are twins. French terms are mixed with the Lebanese ones because French language represents the identity of the Lebanese people.
Adding that the second language of the Lebanese citizens is French, and it belongs to all the Arabic speakers, including France because it doesn’t belong to France only.
Moreover, Dr. Tajideen presented a speech through which he assured how strong the relation is between both the Lebanese and the French, and its continuity for the better. And how there’s an unknown soldier behind every success. He also mentioned, that in Lebanon we are very proud of our educational system, we are in a high educational level compared to many developed countries, adding that we are also proud of our Lebanese democratic system and constitution.
Furthermore, Dr. Tajideen didn’t forget to remind the audience that France played an essential role in the establishment of this Francophone and how the Lebanese have maintained this relationship. Hence, if France is the prelude to success and pride in Lebanon, then the Francophone remained the Unknown Soldier who still seeks to preserve a civilized level for all people.
He continued: “From here, we appreciate the French role, whether it is the political, economic or educational, and we assure on the preservation of this Francophone.”
I hope that the French Embassy will take care of students that are studying in French, like French universities of medicine and engineering, and encourage them to visit France in order to learn more and closely about the French culture, this will lead to exchange of cultures between the Lebanese and the French. Thereby, this will strengthen the ties of the Francophone in the hearts of the students, hoping that such invitations are not limited to students of Beirut only, but to students from different Lebanese regions, especially the south area, which respects and appreciates the French role in supporting Lebanon and France’s participation in the international peacekeeping forces – UNIFIL, because of its importance at the Francophone level. ”
